This site collects two things, and we would rather say plainly what they are than bury it.
We store the email address you type and which pavilion you asked about. Nothing else. No name, no organisation, no tracking pixel in the emails, so we do not know whether you opened one.
We use it for one purpose: to write to you when that pavilion publishes a programme, opens a call for sessions, or changes zone or status. We do not sell the list, share it, or use it for anything else. Every email carries a one-click unsubscribe, and you can also write to hello@wearecommonhouse.com and ask us to delete you, which we do the same day rather than after thirty days.
The lawful basis is your consent, given when you submit the form. The addresses sit in a Supabase database in the EU. We keep them until COP31 ends, and delete the list within a month of the conference closing unless you have asked to stay for the following one.
We count page views and which outbound links get clicked, through Vercel Analytics and a small table of our own. Neither stores a cookie, an IP address or anything that identifies you, which is why this site has no cookie banner: there is nothing to consent to.
The form at /submit asks for a contact name, email and role so we can come back to you about what you sent. That contact detail is not published on the site and not added to any mailing list. The programme itself is published, with your name on it, which is the point of sending it.
whatthecop.com is run by Common House, a company registered in England and Wales. It is an independent site and is not affiliated with the UNFCCC, the COP31 presidency or any pavilion host. Write to hello@wearecommonhouse.com for anything on this page, including a request to see, correct or delete what we hold. If you are unhappy with how we answer, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
